For most people, the ideal time to get an influenza vaccine is mid-September through October. If you cannot or did not get the flu shot before the end of October, the CDC still recommends receiving one before the end of the flu season.

Who should get a flu vaccine?

Anyone 6 months of age or older who does not have any contraindications is recommended to get a flu shot. Contraindications include anaphylaxis to a previous influenza vaccine or any of its ingredients.

What are the side effects?

The most common adverse reactions include soreness, redness, or swelling at the injection site, fever, muscle aches, and possibly a headache.  These reactions are typically mild and only last up to a few days.

Can you get a flu vaccine and a COVID-19 vaccine during the same visit?

Yes, you can get both vaccines during the same visit.
